Context of the Job:
This is a full-time grant-funded position.
The College of Education and Human Development is a diversified college with undergraduate and graduate programs that require a close working relationship with the state of Delaware, federal agencies, local school systems, and numerous health and service agencies.
The CEHD houses the Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood (DIEEC). The DIEEC supports early childhood workforce and programming services for children aged six weeks to 12 years of age through the translation of evidence-based practices as well as the generation of new knowledge via applied research. The DIEEC serves the state and nation through the provision of professional development for early childhood educators in home-based and center-based settings, technical assistance to early care and education programs through Delaware’s quality improvement system, direct services to children and families through the New Directions Early Head Start program, and applied research in diverse early care and education settings.
Under the general direction of the Program Manager, DIEEC, the Quality Improvement Specialist works directly with early care and education and/or school-age program leaders to support quality improvement efforts in alignment with Delaware’s quality improvement system.
This position is a full-time, grant-funded position.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provides on and off-site quality improvement support aligned with Delaware’s quality improvement system, to improve early care and education programming across a variety of early childhood programs, including center-based, home-based, school-age, and/or state-funded programs.
- Organizes and documents information related to program engagement and quality efforts.
- Independently utilizes, coordinates, and adapts techniques to support the cycle of continuous quality improvement, including relationship building, motivational interviewing, consultation practices, and goal-setting.
- Coordinates, plans, and facilitates group meetings with early childhood professionals (e.g., Communities of Practice, Office Hours)
- Collaborates with a team of quality improvement specialists to design innovative ways to connect and collaborate with the early childhood workforce and to improve overall service delivery to early care and education and school-age programs.
- Remains well-educated and up-to-date regarding recommended early care and education practices.
- Supports the overall mission of DIEEC through planning, coordinating, and attending committees/workgroups as assigned.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related discipline and two years of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of child development, early care and education and/or school-age environments.
- Understanding and experience using adult learning principles.
- Must be detail oriented, proficient in Microsoft Office suite of tools and Google suite of tools.
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Experience in collaboration and building partnerships as well as the ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
